Reviews
I’ve been fortunate to have the job of TV, Movie or Book Reviewer since 2004. When it’s good, it’s great. When it’s bad, it’s grueling. I can’t begin to count how many Barbie videos I’ve reviewed over the years– some might say too many. Joking aside, I’ve been thrilled to have been writing for Common Sense Media since its inception, when then Editor-in-Chief Liz Perle, gave me the job of “TV Review Editor.” I was one of the first television reviewers for the site. It was an exciting time– Liz would TiVo programs for me, I’d let myself into her house to watch them, and I’d write my review. She became my mentor and my support and inspiration for creating Solo Parent Magazine. Sadly, we lost Liz to cancer in 2015.
Over the past decade, CSM has grown into an influential presence, championing media responsibility and advocating for healthy media choices for families. I’ve reviewed television, movies, and books for this broad-reaching organization that is “Dedicated to improving kids’ media lives.” CSM now receives over 6 million unique views a month and can be found on many platforms worldwide.
